GUIDING:
CDR Decoding - NGTelsoft directly loads
Call Detail Records from telephone
switches, PBXs, or other NEs, and from
other carriers. No separate mediation
system is required. It includes loaders
for AMA BAF, the Telica Plexus 9000, and
Broadworks Broadsoft. In addition, the
open, documented database API lets you
write custom loaders.
CDR Merging - A single call can generate
multiple CDRs. NGTelsoft can merge CDRs
for these multiple calls into a master
record used for rating. The master,
merged CDR includes the relevant
information from all of the CDR
sources. Further, carriers can easily
use the NGTelsoft merged CDRs for
other OSS applications.
RATING:
Identifying chargeable subscriber - The
chargeable subscriber for a call is
determined by the calling number (for
outbound calls), the called number (for
inbound calls), by the calling-card
number (for post-paid calling cards), or
by the billing number included on the
CDR. The number allocation database
tracks assignment periods, so old CDRs
can be rated properly, even if the
number has been re-assigned or ported
away.
Charge calculation - Charge calculation
consists of (a) identifying the call
type, (b) finding an appropriate rate
plan element, and (c) computing the
appropriate charge.
Call type: NGTelsoft classifies a call
based on calling and called numbers to
determine whether it is inbound or
outbound, and local, long distance
(in-state or domestic), international,
calling-card, operator, information,
emergency, or WATTS.
Rate plan element: The rate plan element
specifies the rules to match a
particular call; this rules-based
approach matches calls by call type,
called number and CDR source (e.g., for
different rates for different LD
companies). The intelligent search
algorithm allows for powerful
combination and mass updates. Rates can
be changed without deleting any old
elements, so even old and new CDRs can
be rated under the rates that were in
effect when the call occurred.
Computation: The charge is computed
based on first-increment duration and
rate, and subsequent-increment duration
and rate. This allows standard 6-second
billing, or for complex plans like 20
minutes for $0.99 and $0.10/minute
afterwards.
Invoice grouping - Call charges are
grouped and tracked by invoice date;
easily determine when a particular call
was billed using the internal tracking.
NGTelsoft supports retroactive
adjustments; if a human error is
discovered after the bills are sent,
then NGTelsoft even generates exact
credits for all erroneous charges.
Transmission to billing platform -
Individual or grouped charges can be
sent to any billing system via SQL
interface, XML, or other format.
